L. Verdell “Goldie” Goldberg was a dedicated, long-time member of the Exchange Club of Omaha. Through his involvement in the club and other civic organizations, Goldie consistently demonstrated a great desire to help others in need, especially children. He worked to fight child abuse through numerous activities he was involved within the club. In September 2021, he lost a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Memorials in his name received by the club were used to acquire Goldie’s Giving Tree, which was planted in Healing Garden at Project Harmony and is viewable from the window in their Children’s Services lobby.
Project Harmony’s nationally recognized, collaborative, child-focused approach works to ensure children are not further victimized by the systems intended to protect them. This organization brings multiple agencies working in these systems together into one place–where they can coordinate and communicate most effectively and tackle child abuse as a team.
It is the club’s hope that Goldie’s memory will live on through his Giving Tree with donations made to Project Harmony. Please consider a gift on the Project Harmony wish list to support this great cause.
